What is
TYEP
The Tennessee Youth Employment Program (TYEP) is the nation’s largest youth employment program, connecting youth between the ages of 14 and 24 with career exploration opportunities and paid work experiences each summer and throughout the year.

By participating in these structured career exploration and work-based opportunities, youth are better prepared for their chosen career path.

Message to Youth:
Due to early success and overwhelming interest, we are currently at capacity serving youth through the Tennessee Youth Employment Program (TYEP) program within your area. However, we will put your application on a waiting list and update you as spots become available. Please note that while TYEP is available to all Tennessee youth between the ages of 14-24, priority is given to low-income and foster youth- this priority will be applied to the TYEP waitlist.
In the meantime, a Career Specialist with the American Job Center will be in touch to further explore ways we can be of service. We are happy to connect you to other potential opportunities to help prepare and connect you to employment. If you would like to reach out directly to your local American Job Center, contact information can be accessed through this link, located by county.
Thank you again for your interest and we look forward to connecting you to opportunities through the American Job Center network.

Message to Employer:
Due to early success and overwhelming interest, we are currently at capacity serving youth through the Tennessee Youth Employment Program (TYEP) program within your area. All currently enrolled youth have been placed with a TYEP employer. Youth applications and employer applications are now being placed on a waiting list. As spots become available, interested youth will be matched with an interested employer for paid work experience placement.
In the meantime, a representative from the Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development will reach out to you to discuss other business services outside of TYEP. We can provide labor exchange opportunities and connect you to available youth interested in employment. While most of these services do not provide subsidized wages as with TYEP, they are valuable business tools and can support your workforce needs.
Thank you again for your interest- we look forward to serving you!
